Held over World Sleep Day weekend, Tidur Lambak was an immersive performance evoking the nostalgic communal sleeping arrangements often associated with the Malaysian tradition of balik kampung (homecoming). Featuring 12 non-actors from diverse backgrounds, the performance unfolded as they entered the space one by one, each settling into a single mattress placed side by side—gradually forming a large, shared “nest.” With a soundscape of rural Malaysia playing through surrounding speakers, guests were invited into this intimate kampung room alongside the performers, creating a space where memory and imagination intertwined—rekindling old sentiments while inviting new emotional experiences.
The lighting was deliberately simple, designed to support the immersive atmosphere and complement the softly diffused centrepiece—enhancing the warmth, stillness, and sense of shared nostalgia.
